Gledhill Solicitors specialise in Mental Health Law particularly in representing clients who are detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act. We are based in Brighton, Sussex but represent clients all over the South East. We pride ourselves in being 'client centred'. This simply means we take our client's point of view seriously and try our best to respond to their needs with a personal approach at a time that we know can be extremely distressing and frightening.

We hold a contract with the Legal Services Commission and we are approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to provide mental health legal advice. Our team of experienced and dedicated lawyers are able to attend clients at very short notice to provide representation at Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers hearings. Where appropriate we can also attend section 117 (pre-discharge) and CPA meetings.

We can also advise in relation to all aspects of being a detained or voluntary (informal) patient and we can advise clients in relation to all sections of the Mental Health Act including detention under section 4, 2, 3, 7, 17A (CTO), 37, 37/41, S5 CPIA and transfer from prison 47-49. In essence we can advise on all civil sections, hospital orders made by the Criminal Courts and all patients who are admitted to hospital informally. We can advise clients throughout the South East of England including London.

We will visit clients wherever they are, be that in hospital, care home or if appropriate at their own home in the community. We will usually be able to see a new client the same day and usually within 24 hours of first contact. We pride ourselves on our very rapid response to our clients needs.
